Gourmet Garlic: From Planting to Your Plate

This workshop will get your hands dirty and your breath garlicy! Fields Edge Farm is well known for growing a wide variety of gourmet garlic. This year they have over 13,000 bulbs in the field, grown with organic methods. June is prime harvest season and visitors will be able to see the garlic growing in the field, learn about planting, help with harvest in the field and curing systems in the packhouse as well as taste the many types grown at the farm. The kinds of garlic will amaze you, from porcelain to purple and black- The farm will showcase them all. This class will be held at the Fields Edge Packhouse which is an open air facility and include time in the field. Please dress comfortably for the weather. If rain is expected we will notify you of a postponement ahead of time.
Participants are invited to stay for farm fresh lunch after the class and will leave with 5 bulbs of garlic to enjoy or plant at home. Fresh garlic will be available for purchase.
*Workshops will be filmed for our local Citizens TV program, and participants will be asked to fill our a photo release form. However, we will respect the privacy of those who do not wish to be filmed during the day.
